About

Who we are

FUES is a registered NGO (No. ooNGO/0009503) committed to improving access to quality STEM education for children, youth, girls and women in Tanzania. It provides training, technology access, and mentorship to inspire students to pursue STEM careers. With a mission to create a more equitable world, FUES equips young people with the skills needed to thrive in a technology-driven society.

The organization has already made a significant impact and continues to be a leader in STEM education and
empowerment.

OUR Origin

FUES was founded by young STEM professionals who first met at university. As they shared their experiences like they realized they had all faced similar challenges during their education. They attended schools with limited resources—no science experiments, minimal engagement of girls in STEM, a lack of ICT labs, an insufficient number of science teachers, and, in some cases, no electricity, forcing them to study by lamp light.

Despite these hardships, they persevered and successfully pursued STEM careers. Motivated by their experiences, they began volunteering during university holidays, teaching STEM subjects in their communities, as well as in primary and secondary schools, particularly in rural areas.

Their passion for making STEM education accessible led them to establish FOUNDATION FOR UPCOMING ENGINEERS AND SCIENTISTS (FUES), an organization dedicated to overcoming the very challenges they once faced, ensuring that future generations have better opportunities to thrive in STEM.
